Opened in 1993 from an Isao Katsumata-designed concept, Sawang Resort Golf Club provides a good test for players of all levels. The resort also incorporates a large clubhouse, a hotel and a number of condos and sits in perfect harmony with its surrounding valley - Phetchaburi's rolling hills. Water makes up more than a fair share of the courses hazards and on the par-4 17th players have to contend with water left and right guarding the approach to the green.

15 Feb - registration helpful but interrupted by too many incoming telephone calls. Cart in poor condition. Fairways and course generally needs water and better maintenance, hazards not well marked. Caddies didn't offer course info . Would return if heading south west to coast.

Attractive and challenging layout, but poor maintenance, particularly on the front 9.

Played here May 12/07. Arrived at the course (which BTW is not very far from BKK) and did the usual green fee thing. When we went to rent a golf cart we were turned away as there were none left??? Strange indeed that they would be short of golf carts, but then as a group was coming off the 18th green we asked the staff if we could take that cart and they again said "no", the reason being that the cart needed to be charged??? Again strange but whatever. The first nine holes were played in bright sunshine - the course condition was still slightly damp but fine overall. The greens were medium speed but consistent overall. Our golf round was interrupted by 30 minutes of very heavy rain so by the time we got back on to play the back nine the course was soaking. Can't blame the course for the weather but the drainage on this course is only so-so and some patches were quite flooded. Overall this course is a great place to play a quiet round - the reason I say this is my group and I did not meet a single other player, not in the locker room before or after and not on the course. It allowed us to dictate out own pace of play but we just thought it really strange. All in all, its close proximity to BKK, the condition and lack of other players make this course one that I would play again.

caddies should be taught to be quiet. excessive caddy chatter makes it hard to focus on your game. caddies should also be taught NOT to walk between the bunker and the green in front the player taking a bunker shot. is that too much to ask? one more thing. if you come here, bring a chair to sit on while a group of 6 tiger-wannabees line up their putts. this is the capital of slow play. good value for the money, however and i can't seem to get enough of the khao tom nua in the restaurant.
